Living in Hope - Day 2: Our Desperate Need

Day 2: Our Desperate Need
Reading: Romans 3:10-19 and Ephesians 2:12

Devotional:
Scripture paints an uncomfortable portrait of humanity: none righteous, none seeking God, all turned aside. Apart from Christ, we are aliens, strangers, having no hope and without God. This isn't pessimism—it's reality. We are spiritually dead, shackled by sin, utterly incapable of self-rescue. Like someone drowning, we need intervention from outside ourselves. Recognizing our desperate state isn't defeating; it's the first step toward genuine hope. We cannot minimize our condition or pretend we're capable of saving ourselves. Only when we acknowledge our helplessness do we truly appreciate the magnitude of God's rescue mission. Today, honestly assess areas where you've tried to be your own savior. Surrender them to the One who actually can save.
