The Spirit-Filled Life - Day 4: Forgiving the Unforgivable

Day 4: Forgiving the Unforgivable
Reading: Acts 7:54-60; Luke 23:32-34

Devotional:

As stones struck his body, Stephen prayed, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." His words echo Jesus on the cross: "Father, forgive them." This wasn't natural human response—it was supernatural, Spirit-filled love.

Stephen exemplified Christ even in death, concerned more for his murderers' souls than his own suffering. He understood what we often forget: forgiveness is not about excusing evil but about releasing people to God's justice and mercy. It's choosing their potential salvation over our rightful vengeance.

Among those witnesses was Saul, who would become Paul the apostle. Stephen's prayer was answered. His death became seed for one of Christianity's greatest missionaries. Your forgiveness, too, may plant seeds you'll never see harvested this side of heaven. But it's worth it—always worth it—because it reflects the heart of Jesus.

Reflection: Who do you need to forgive today, trusting God with the outcome?
