Simon the sorcerer believed he could approach God on his own terms, blinded by pride and self-importance. True salvation begins when we see ourselves as we truly are—sinners in desperate need of grace. Pride masks our spiritual poverty, convincing us we're good enough, religious enough, or knowledgeable enough. But God resists the proud while drawing near to the humble. Before we can understand salvation, we must first understand ourselves: broken, rebellious, and utterly dependent on God's mercy. Examine your heart today. Are you approaching God with humility or hiding behind masks of self-righteousness? Genuine faith begins with honest self-assessment before a holy God.
