The Spirit-Filled Life - Day 3: The Danger of Silencing Messengers

Day 3: The Danger of Silencing Messengers
Reading: Acts 7:51-53; 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16

Devotional:

Stephen confronted a tragic pattern: Israel's history of killing prophets culminated in rejecting and crucifying the Messiah Himself. Rather than receiving correction, they silenced the messenger with stones.

Today, we may not throw physical stones, but we silence messengers in other ways. We close our Bibles when they challenge us. We leave churches that preach difficult truths. We attack those who call us to holiness. We surround ourselves only with voices that affirm what we want to hear.

This resistance reveals something deeper—not disagreement with the messenger, but rejection of the message and ultimately, rejection of Jesus Himself. God sends prophets, preachers, and His Word because He loves us too much to leave us in our sin. Will we listen, or will we cover our ears?

Reflection: Have you been avoiding any biblical truth or godly counsel? Ask God for a teachable heart.
