Paul declares his secret to spiritual progress: "One thing I do." In a world of endless distractions, single-minded devotion to Christ is revolutionary. Martha's busyness, though well-intentioned, distracted her from sitting at Jesus' feet—the better choice Mary made. We can become so consumed with serving God that we neglect knowing God. Good activities can rob us of the best priority: pursuing Christlikeness. Like a driver who must focus on the road ahead rather than constantly checking the rearview mirror, we must maintain our focus on what matters most. Evaluate your schedule honestly. Are you too busy to prioritize your relationship with Christ? What "good" things might be preventing you from the "best" thing—becoming more like Jesus?
