Devotional:
The crowd's response reveals humanity's greatest danger: self-deception. "We've never been enslaved," they claimed, while standing under Roman occupation. They trusted their heritage—Abraham's descendants, religious credentials, cultural identity. Today we do the same: "I'm a church member, I walked an aisle, I'm from a Christian family." But Jesus cuts through our comfortable delusions. Many will say "Lord, Lord" yet hear "I never knew you." Heritage doesn't save. Membership doesn't free. Only authentic relationship with Christ breaks sin's chains. The most dangerous prison is the one you don't know you're in. Are you trusting in religious activity or genuine surrender to Jesus?
