Herod had opportunities to repent. The Passover season had just passed — a season saturated with the memory of God's power and mercy. The unleavened bread had barely been put away. Yet Herod continued his pattern of defiance, and judgment came immediately and without reversal. God is not mocked. The principle of sowing and reaping is not a threat — it is a description of how a morally ordered universe functions under a holy God. Hell is real. Eternal consequences are real. This reality is not meant to produce despair but urgency — urgency to run toward the grace that is freely offered before judgment arrives.
