Becoming the Kind of Person God Can Use Effectively - Day 4: Humility, Conflict, and Worship

Day 4: Humility, Conflict, and Worship
Reading:
Matthew 5:23-24; Philippians 2:3-4

Devotional:
Jesus taught something striking about worship: that unresolved conflict with another person has the power to interrupt it. He described a person arriving at the altar with a gift, only to remember that a brother has something against them. The instruction is not to finish the worship first and then deal with the relationship. The instruction is to leave the gift, go be reconciled, and then return. This reveals how seriously God takes the connection between humility and worship. A lack of humility poisons relationships, and poisoned relationships hinder our access to God's presence. The pursuit of reconciliation is not a distraction from worship — it is part of it.

Reflection Question:
Is there a broken or strained relationship in your life that may be quietly affecting the quality of your worship and walk with God?

Practical Application:
Take one step today toward reconciliation with someone you are in conflict with. This may mean a phone call, a written note, or simply a decision to release resentment. Do not wait until it feels comfortable.
