Day 2: Getting Up Is Not the Same as Pretending
Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 and Acts 14:20
Devotional:
When Paul rose from the ground and walked back into the city of Lystra, he was not pretending the stoning had not happened. The wounds were real. The pain was real. The danger was still present. What Paul refused to do was allow what had happened to him determine what he would do next. Bethany Hamilton did not return to the water by denying that a shark had taken her arm. She returned by refusing to let that loss define her future. Perseverance is not the absence of pain. It is the decision to press forward in spite of it. God's grace does not erase the trial. It sustains you through it.

Is there a trial in your life that you have allowed to become the final word on what you are able to do for God?
Apply:
Write down one way a past difficulty has shaped how you now serve others. Acknowledge the trial honestly, and then acknowledge that God's grace has been sufficient through it.
