Day 1: Expecting Opposition
Reading: John 15:18-21; 2 Timothy 3:12
Devotional:
Jesus never promised His followers an easy path. When we choose to follow Christ seriously, we align ourselves against the values of a fallen world. The early church understood this reality. James was killed, Peter imprisoned, and believers scattered—yet the gospel advanced. Persecution isn't a sign that God has abandoned us; it's often confirmation we're walking the narrow road faithfully. The world rejected Christ, and it will reject those who bear His name. This isn't pessimism—it's preparation. When trials come, we won't be surprised or shaken. Instead, we'll recognize them as part of our calling and stand firm, knowing we follow in the footsteps of our Savior who overcame the world.
