Day 3: Understanding Sin's Domination

Devotional:
"Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin." Jesus uses present tense—continual practice, habitual surrender. Sin isn't occasional failure; it's complete domination where your will bows to another master. Slavery means involuntary bondage, compulsion beyond control. Like Janice Joplin, the supposed "free spirit" who died enslaved to heroin, sin promises liberation but delivers chains. It always demands more. You might get out of jail only to return again, trapped in cycles you cannot break. Sin's domination is real, powerful, and fatal. But here's hope: recognizing your slavery is the first step toward freedom.
