Day 2: The Perfect Substitute
Reading: 1 Peter 2:22-25
Devotional:
Jesus was the only one qualified to be our substitute. He committed no sin, spoke no deceit, and perfectly followed the Father's will. Yet He bore our sins in His body on the cross. He became what we were—sin—so we could become what He is—righteous. He suffered the wrath we deserved so we could receive the mercy He earned. This exchange is the heart of the gospel. When Jesus hung on that tree, He didn't just die as a martyr or good teacher; God Himself suffered the curse meant for us. By His stripes—His wounds, His suffering, His blood—we are healed. Consider today: are you trying to add anything to what Christ has already accomplished? Rest in the finished work of your perfect substitute.
