Reading: John 2:23-25; Matthew 3:1-10
Devotional:
Many believed in Jesus when they saw His miracles, yet Jesus did not entrust Himself to them because He knew their hearts. Simon believed, was baptized, and followed Philip—checking all the external boxes of Christianity. Yet his heart remained unchanged, still craving power and prestige. Salvation is not a "get out of hell" card earned through religious rituals. It's not about membership, baptism, or outward conformity. Jesus sees past our religious performances into the depths of our souls. He distinguishes between profession and possession, between ritual and relationship. The question isn't whether you've completed the checklist, but whether your heart has been transformed. Are you bearing fruit worthy of repentance? Does your life reflect internal change or merely external compliance? True salvation transforms from the inside out.
