Day 2: The Deception of Feelings
Reading: Jeremiah 17:9-10; Psalm 25:4-5
Devotional:
Jeremiah warns us that "the heart is deceitful above all things." Our feelings, though real, are not always reliable guides to truth. David felt forgotten, forsaken, and defeated—yet none of these feelings reflected God's actual disposition toward him. When we navigate by emotions alone, we're like someone ignoring GPS directions because "it feels like" we should go a different way. We inevitably get lost. The antidote is not to suppress emotions but to submit them to God's truth. David prayed, "Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth." God's Word provides the perspective we need when feelings threaten to overwhelm us. Ask God today to enlighten your eyes, to help you see your circumstances from His vantage point rather than your limited earthly view.
