The True Nature of Saving Faith - Day 4: The Gravity of Sin

Day 4: The Gravity of Sin
Reading: Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:8-10

Devotional:
Peter's confrontation with Simon reveals a sobering truth: sin is not a minor inconvenience but a deadly poison that binds us in darkness. Simon's response to correction is telling—he asked Peter to pray for him, concerned only about consequences, not his corrupted heart. He wanted escape from judgment without genuine repentance. True repentance means facing sin honestly, calling it what God calls it: rebellion against a holy God. We cannot cover our sins and prosper; we must confess and forsake them to receive mercy. We often complain about sin's consequences while refusing to deal with sin itself. Are you minimizing your sin, making excuses, or truly repenting? Genuine faith acknowledges sin's seriousness and flees to Christ for cleansing and transformation.
