Day 3: The Blood of the New Covenant
Reading: Hebrews 9:11-22
Devotional:
The old covenant required continual sacrifices—the blood of bulls and goats covering sin temporarily. But Jesus entered the true Holy of Holies in heaven with His own blood, securing eternal redemption. He wasn't just another priest offering another sacrifice; He was the spotless Lamb of God, the only One worthy to take away the sin of the world. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. This isn't primitive or barbaric—it's the divine standard revealing sin's seriousness and God's justice. When you take communion, you're remembering that the cup represents the new covenant in His blood, shed for you. This covenant isn't based on your performance but on His perfection. You are justified freely by His grace through His blood.
