The True Nature of Saving Faith - Day 5: Assured or Assumed?

Day 5: Assured or Assumed?
Reading: Matthew 7:21-23; 2 Corinthians 13:5

Devotional:
The most terrifying words anyone will ever hear are Christ's declaration: "I never knew you; depart from Me." Many who assume they're saved will discover too late they were deceived. The narrow way to life requires more than intellectual agreement or religious activity—it demands heart transformation. Simon looked like a true Christian to everyone around him, even to Philip who baptized him. But God knew his heart remained poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity. The gospel demands we examine ourselves to see if we're truly in the faith. Do you have a right understanding of yourself as a sinner, of salvation as transformation, of the Spirit as Master, and of sin as rebellion? Don't assume you're saved because you walked an aisle, prayed a prayer, or joined a church. Saving faith produces lasting fruit. Test yourself today with honest examination before it's eternally too late.

Thanks for this reminder. May we all search our hearts and know we are his children. I pray.
