The same chapter of Acts records an angel striking Peter's chains to set him free and an angel striking Herod in judgment. One strike brought redemption; the other brought condemnation. The difference was not the angel — it was the condition of the heart before God. Peter was a broken man who had denied Christ and been restored by grace. Herod was a defiant man who had every opportunity to repent and refused. The angel of the Lord moves in both directions. Today is a day of grace. The door of mercy is open. Whatever pattern of pride, self-glorification, or defiance has marked your life, turn from it now and receive what Peter received — freedom.
