Day 1: The Freedom of Playing Second Fiddle
Reading: Philippians 2:3-4; John 3:27-28, 30
Devotional:
Barnabas had every reason to stay in the spotlight. He had seniority, experience, and influence. Yet when God elevated Paul, Barnabas stepped back without resentment. This kind of humility is rare because it requires dying to something most of us protect fiercely: our sense of importance. John the Baptist understood this. He declared that a man receives only what heaven gives him, and that his role was to point toward someone greater, not to compete with Him. True humility is not thinking less of yourself — it is thinking of yourself less. Ask yourself today: Am I serving so others see Jesus, or so others see me?
