Day 2: When Serving Becomes Difficult
Reading: Luke 9:62; Hebrews 12:1
Devotional:
John Mark packed his bags and went home. We do not know every reason why, but the text makes clear that Paul considered his departure a serious failure of commitment. The mountains of Pamphylia were dangerous. The mission had shifted. The work was harder than expected. Quitting made sense by every human measure. Yet the writer of Hebrews calls us to run with endurance the race set before us, and Jesus warned that no one who looks back after putting a hand to the plow is fit for the kingdom. Ministry will have its Pamphylias — difficult stretches where quitting feels reasonable. Faithfulness is choosing to stay anyway.

What circumstance in your life right now is tempting you to walk away from something God has called you to?
Practical Application:
Write down one commitment you have made to God or others that needs renewed dedication. Pray specifically over that commitment today and ask God for the strength to persevere.
