Day 4: Faithful When the Stakes Escalate
Reading: 2 Timothy 4:1-5; Acts 14:4-5
Devotional:
Opposition in Acts 14 did not stay at the level of verbal criticism. It escalated. What began as stirred crowds and poisoned opinions became an organized violent plot. Yet Paul and Barnabas continued to preach. There is a word for this: persistence. The command in 2 Timothy 4 is to preach the word in season and out of season, which is another way of saying when it is convenient and when it is not, when people are receptive and when they are not. Faithfulness is not measured by the response you receive. It is measured by the commitment you maintain regardless of the response. The mission does not change when the circumstances become difficult.
Reflection:
Have you allowed a difficult season, a discouraging response, or personal weariness to cause you to pull back from the mission God has given you?
Practical Application:
Identify one area of ministry or witness where you have quietly given up. Recommit to that specific area this week, not because conditions have improved, but because the mission has not changed.
