Day 1: Recognizing Our Need
Reading: Acts 14:8-10; Luke 7:41-42

The man in Lystra had never walked a single step. His condition was not the result of an accident or a bad decision. He was born this way. He had no remedy, no strength, no hope within himself. Luke records that he listened to Paul and that Paul, looking intently at him, saw faith. But that faith began with an honest reckoning with his own helplessness. Luke 7:41-42 describes two debtors who had nothing with which to repay what they owed. That is the beginning of the Gospel for every person. Before grace can be received, need must be acknowledged. Ask yourself today: Have you honestly admitted that your spiritual condition is beyond your own ability to fix?
