Getting on the Field: Faith, Trials, and Perseverance - Day 4: Perseverance Is the Mark of Genuine Faith
Day 4: Perseverance Is the Mark of Genuine Faith
Reading: Galatians 6:9 and Acts 14:22
Devotional:
Paul returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch with a specific purpose: to strengthen the disciples and encourage them to continue in the faith. The word he used (strengthen) carried the weight of a foundation being reinforced. He was not simply offering kind words. He was building something durable into their lives. He told them plainly that the path to the kingdom runs through many tribulations. He did not soften that reality. He grounded them in it. Perseverance is not simply a personality trait some believers happen to have. Scripture presents it as a mark of saving faith. Those who are genuinely rooted in Christ do not quit when things become difficult. They are sustained by grace, grounded in the Word, and committed to finishing what God has called them to do.
Reflect:
When difficulty comes, what is the first thing you are tempted to abandon: your service, your community, your time in Scripture, or your prayer life?
Apply:
Identify the specific spiritual discipline that suffers most when you are under pressure. Build one intentional safeguard this week to protect that discipline during difficult seasons.

Faith is believing when it is beyond reason to believe. Trusting God when we dont know or see what God is doing. Trusting him anyway.
