Living for What Matters - Day 4: The Strength to Keep Going
Day 4: The Strength to Keep Going
Reading: Mark 6:30-32, Isaiah 40:28-31, and Psalm 23:1-3
Devotional:
Jesus did not rebuke His disciples for being tired. He told them to come away and rest. Elijah won a great victory on Mount Carmel and then collapsed in exhaustion under a tree. God did not lecture him. God let him sleep, fed him, and sent him on his way. Weariness is not a spiritual failure. Ignoring weariness until it becomes bitterness or burnout is the danger. God designed you to need renewal. The shepherd leads the sheep to still waters not because the journey is over, but because the sheep need to be restored for the road ahead. Receiving rest and renewal is not retreating from the mission. It is preparing to continue it.
Reflection:
Are you running on empty? Have you confused constant activity with faithful service? What does genuine rest and renewal look like for you?
Application:
Schedule a specific time this week for rest, prayer, and reconnection with God. Treat it as a spiritual discipline, not an indulgence.
