Being In Tune With God - Day 3: The Danger of Hindering God's Work
Day 3: The Danger of Hindering God's Work
Reading: Acts 15:12-19
Devotional:
James drew a sobering conclusion from what God was doing and what Scripture had said. His word was simple: do not put unnecessary obstacles in the path of those who are turning to God. The church can become the greatest barrier to the very work it claims to support. Tradition, preference, comfort, and the need for control can quietly position us against what God is doing without us ever intending it. We are not always attacking God's work. Sometimes we are simply standing in the way of it. The question worth asking honestly is not whether we mean well, but whether we are helping or hindering.
Reflection:
Is there a tradition, preference, or personal expectation in your life or church that may be creating unnecessary difficulty for someone seeking God?
Practical Application:
Identify one area where you have been resistant to change. Ask God honestly whether that resistance is rooted in faithfulness to His Word or in personal comfort and familiarity.
